Screenplay Rewriting Service
When you’ve got the perfect movie idea but no time to write it yourself

Hello! I’m Brian O’Malley. I’m a veteran filmmaker, screenwriter, script consultant, and literary manager with over 30 years experience. I offer full rewriting/ghostwriting services for your screenplay or idea, letting you retain 100% authorship, 100% ownership, and 100% screen credit for any work. (In other words, when I deliver my work to you, my name is not on it, and I will have no claim to any revenue or screen credit from your script’s sale or production.)
How my writing/rewriting service works
Step 1) You and I work out the details of the job and payment via email. Then I read your script.
Step 2) After reading your script, I email you my notes which include a new treatment that outlines the improved story, characters, and other elements.
Step 3) We schedule a phone call/Zoom for one hour and talk about my notes and treatment. By the end of this call we have a plan of action and I go to work on the rewrite for X number of weeks, then deliver the new draft to you.
Step 4) You then send me a page or two of final notes on my draft, we get on another call to discuss those notes, and then I provide a final round of tweaks to the script.
Turnaround time, payment schedule, and exact deliverables are all worked out at the beginning of the process so there are no surprises. Most rewrites take anywhere between 4 and 8 weeks. Expedited service may be available depending on my availability. My rewriting fee starts in the $7-10K range and can go up from there depending on the complexity of the project. If you’re a WGA signatory, my rates will be no less than WGA minimums set forth in the Minimum Basic Agreement.
I started my screenwriting career in 1994, reading and covering scripts for talent and literary agency Media Artists Group, and in the late 90s rewrote shooting scripts for legendary B-movie maverick Roger Corman (the producer of such films as Little Shop of Horrors and Death Race 2000 who launched the careers of Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorcese, James Cameron, Peter Bogdanovich, Jonathan Demme, Joe Dante, and John Sayles).
In 1999, I started Screenplay Readers and shortly after co-founded Sundance darling Brooklyn Reptyle Films and have directed, written, and produced five feature films, including Audie & The Wolf on Amazon Prime and the Fangoria cult favorite Bleak Future — not to mention countless shorts and music videos with punk and rock artists such as The Adicts, Josh Freese, and Taffy Bennington.
I also teach script reading for Writers Digest and have written several short books on script reading and a novel.
How my Script Consultation / Coaching works

Step 1) You order the service
After checkout, I’ll email you to work out a date and time for the call that works for both of us and what app works best for you for the call (regular phone call, Google Meet, Zoom, or text messages only).

Step 2) We jump on a call
The day of the call, you and connect and I provide notes and advice and answer any questions you have about improving your screenplay (and/or we can brainstorm about story and characters or whatever you like: screenwriting, your writing career, producing your script, script reading as a career, you name it. It’s your time.)

Step 3) You email follow-up questions (as many as you like)
After we wrap up the call, please feel free to ask more questions (within reason). I’m happy to provide ongoing email guidance, and won’t leave you stranded as you move forward with your story.
Frequently asked questions about script consultation and coaching
Will you cut me off as soon as my time is up?
I do my best to keep it to the time allotted but I know calls can sometimes go into overtime by a minute or two. If they do, no worries. I won’t cut off the call in the middle of a thought.
What if I don’t want to be on video?
No worries if you’re camera shy. We can do a phone call or just use audio only for Zoom or Google Meet and/or we can mute the video.
What if there are technical difficulties with the call?
Please make sure your Zoom or Google Meet software work and you’ve tested your camera and audio your before your call begins. But no worries: if you have any such difficulty, we can pause the call and finish at a later time/date or switch to a different connection.
