Let me help make your script the absolute best it can be

Hello! I’m Brian O’Malley. I’m a veteran filmmaker, screenwriter, script consultant, and literary manager with over 30 years experience helping screenwriters and producers improve their screenplays.

I started my screenwriting career in 1994, reading and covering scripts for talent and literary agency Media Artists Group, and in the late 90s rewrote shooting scripts for legendary B-movie maverick Roger Corman (the producer of such films as Little Shop of Horrors and Death Race 2000 who launched the careers of Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorcese, James Cameron, Peter Bogdanovich, Jonathan Demme, Joe Dante, and John Sayles).

In 1999, I started Screenplay Readers and shortly after co-founded Sundance darling Brooklyn Reptyle Films and have directed, written, and produced five feature films, including Audie & The Wolf on Amazon Prime and the Fangoria cult favorite Bleak Future — not to mention countless shorts and music videos with punk and rock artists such as The Adicts, Josh Freese, and Taffy Bennington.

I also teach script reading for Writers Digest and have written several short books on script reading and a novel.

I can help you with:

  • Breaking story / outlining
  • Writing your screenplay’s first draft
  • Strengthening your current draft
  • Making your script more marketable / sellable
  • Landing a literary manager or agent
  • Funding / Production / Post-Production / Sales / Distribution
  • Becoming a professional script reader / script analyst

I also offer these screenwriting and film services:

  • Screenwriting Coaching
  • Ghostwriting
  • Script Lining and Breakdowns
  • Film Budgeting
  • Film Scheduling
  • Script Coordination for Production

Step 2) We jump on a call

The day of the call, you and connect and I provide notes and advice and answer any questions you have about improving your screenplay (and/or we can brainstorm about story and characters or whatever you like: screenwriting, your writing career, producing your script, script reading as a career, you name it. It’s your time.)

Step 3) You email follow-up questions (as many as you like)

After we wrap up the call, please feel free to ask more questions (within reason). I’m happy to provide ongoing email guidance, and won’t leave you stranded as you move forward with your story.

Frequently asked questions about script consultation and coaching

Will you cut me off as soon as my time is up?

No. I’m really bad at cutting the session off as soon as it’s scheduled to end, so almost all my calls go over time. I do my best to keep it to the time slot but sometimes we go over a bit. Either way, you don’t need to worry about me cutting the call off in the middle of a thought.

What if I don’t want to be on video?

No worries if you’re camera shy. We can do a phone call or just use audio only for Zoom, Facetime, or Google Meet and/or we can mute the video.

What if there are technical difficulties with the call?

Please make sure your Zoom, FaceTime, or Google Meet software work and you’ve tested your camera and audio your before your call begins. But no worries: if you have any such difficulty, we can pause the call and finish at a later time/date or switch to a different connection.

If we use Zoom and I only have a free Zoom account am I limited to a 30-minute call?

The 30-minute limit on free Zoom accounts is only if you host the call and I will be hosting the call if we’re on Zoom, so you don’t need to worry about that limit.
